Allison and Katie first met through their toddler children. They quickly bonded over the chaos of everyday life and the juggle of corporate careers. Each with a desire to start her own company, conversation shifted to entrepreneurial opportunities. Both women had seen firsthand the stress that decluttering, organizing and moving had on their parents and other friends, and quickly the idea of Refined Roost was born.
Meet Katie
With a natural talent for creating order out of chaos, she has always found her greatest joy in making a positive impact on people's lives. A turning point in her journey came when her own parents decided to sell their home and downsize to a smaller residence. The daunting process became her own personal mission. What was an emotionally and physically taxing experience for many became a source of energy and fulfillment for Katie.
Katie holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and has a project management background across various industries, culminating in her experience at a software start up. Originally from Fort Worth, TX, she relocated to Denver to embrace her love for outdoor activities like skiing, hiking, and experiencing the beautiful fall colors. Katie is a proud mother of two precious girls and shares her adventures with her husband and loyal black lab.
Meet Allison
Characterized as a busy body, Allison has always been detail oriented with a type-A personality (confirmed by her husband!). Having moved herself many times and more recently helped her parents through a large relocation, she has seen firsthand the stress and chaos created by change. With a passion to help ease worries in other people’s lives, she believes that a tailored service creates peace of mind when facing overwhelming projects.
Originally from Wyoming, Allison started her career at Walmart before attaining an M.B.A. from Cornell University. She continued her corporate experience in investment banking in Houston and New York City before relocating back to the west. She now lives in Denver with her husband and two boys who love all things cowboy. Together as a family they enjoy hunting, fishing and adventures in the outdoors.
